Squeaky shoes

Remember those shoes that kids wore in the 90s that flashed every time they took a step? Well, in Japan kids wear shoes that squeak like a dog toy every time they take a step. What sadistic parent would subjugate themselves to that sort of torture??? I am coincidentally on the ferry with the same family with the same three kids who ALL have squeaky shoes on! It's an ensemble of annoying and I have only been with them for 2 hours. How the parents cope I do not know....
